American Idol reject Didi Benami has dished out some advice to Simon Cowell and the rest of the judges. The 23-year-old - the latest wannabe to get voted off the US TV talent show - said she would advise the panel to "be more consistent just like they told me".

Early in the competition the judges - Simon, Ellen DeGeneres, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi - liked her unique singing style, but over time changed their tune.

Last week, they were critical of Didi's performance of What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted, calling it "old fashioned," "overdone" and "dramatic", and she was eliminated after receiving the fewest votes from viewers. But Didi thinks the panel could tone down their reactions a bit.

"I would tell them to not be as harsh because some of the things they said were really, really hurtful and not necessary," she said. Nine contestants remain in the singing competition.American Idol is shown on ITV2 in the UK.
