Part of Simon Cowell's deal to keep him on "American Idol" for the next two years may include bringing British show "The X Factor" to the U.S. FOX and Simon are rumored to be negotiating a deal that would not only lock Cowell in as an "Idol" judge for two more seasons (through 2012) but would launch an American version of "The X Factor."
It is also rumored that Cowell could earn about $50 million a season for "Idol" and that a if "The X Factor" is successful it could earn him an additional $50 million a cycle.
What is still up in the air is if Cowell would judge on "The X Factor." Other candidates tossed around are ex-"American Idol" judge Paula Abdul and the two judges on the British "X Factor,' Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh. Here's our question: how is "The X Factor" different from "America's Got Talent" and/or "American Idol?" Don't those two shows about cover it?
