Archuleta broke the news to fans at a Christmas concert Monday night in Salt Lake City, Utah and reportedly received a standing ovation from the crowd. He released video of the announcement on his website. In the video he tells fans: "It's not because someone told me that I'm supposed to do it, and not because I no longer want to do music, but because it's the feeling that I've felt I need to do this with my life."
