“American Idol” contestants Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina have been using their fame to raise money for charity. Both ‘Idol‘ singers were recently involved in the City of Hope Softball Challenge, which raises funds for the organization to provide compassionate patient care, innovative science and extensive research for cancer sufferers. Each singer signed the bat they used at the fundraising event and those bats are going to raise more funds through an ebay auction.
McCreery’s auction lot includes a signed “City of Hope Celebrity Softball Challenge” branded bat, a Hatch Show Print for the ’21st Annual City of Hope Celebrity Softball Challenge’, as well as a ‘Strike Out Cancer’ baseball cap and T-shirt. The high bidder for McCreery’s lot was over $200 USD.
“American Idol” runner-up Lauren Alaina’s auction lot included the same items as McCreery’s; bat, print, baseball cap and t-shirt. Her auction lot was heading over $60 with just a few minutes left to go on the auction.
Alaina and McCreery were not the only ones hoping to help raise funds for City of Hope, many other stars offered up auction items. Vince Gill, Two Foot Fred and Alan Jackson donated signed music cd’s, posters, and Team Jersey’s for the charity auctions.
Signed softballs by Lauren Alaina, Scott McCreery, and Team Jersey’s are up for auction until July 17th. 100% of the proceeds will go to help City of Hope make a difference in the lives of cancer patients.
