'American Idol' auditions in Robinson mall before Heinz Field tryouts

TV station Fox-53 will host an “American Idol” audition July 9 at the Mall at Robinson. The winner earns a guaranteed audition with an “American Idol” producer, and will get to bypass the registration process when “Idol” hosts tryouts for thousands of people at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh on July 15. Registration for the Heinz Field tryouts will be July 13 and 14, with more details to be announced via americanidol. For the Robinson audition, entrants must sing up to 30 seconds of an a capella song of their choice. Acoustic instruments that do not require set-up will be allowed. The Mall at Robinson registration is from 10?a.m. to 1?p.m. July 9, with performances starting at noon in the Grand Court. Singers must be between 15- and 28 years-old as of June 26. The one winner in Robinson will be chosen by a panel of judges based on the following criteria: 50 percent singing ability/voice; 25 percent stage presence; 25 percent style.
