American Idol Winner Lee Dewyze to Sing National Anthem at NBA Finals

June 5, 2010 |09:23 | Finalists | Updates  By : Team X

American Idol Winner Lee Dewyze to Sing National Anthem at NBA FinalsAmerican Idol Winner Lee Dewyze is still making the rounds. He's not done promoting himself after his big win last week. He and runner-up Crystal Bowersox have done the talk show thing this week, such as judge Ellen DeGeneres' show, Regis and Kelly, and the Today Show, and now he'll be having a solo appearance singing the National Anthem before the NBA Finals, according to the Associated Press.

For game two of the NBA Finals, Boston Celtics at Los Angeles Lakers, Lee will be singing the Star Spangled Banner before the start of the game on Sunday night. Los Angeles currently has a one game lead on Boston. If the Celtics mount a comeback at this point, it might compare to Lee toppeling Crystal in the finale.

I know it's following a tradition to have the American Idol winner sing during the NBA Finals, but since the Chicago Bulls took an early exit here, wouldn't it be more meaningful, at least to Lee and Chicagoans, to have him sing before a Stanley Cup game? The Chicago Blackhawks are playing the Philadelphia Flyers. How great would that be to have Lee sing before watching his home team? At VoteForTheWost.com  has ended his run on American Idol. Urban's exit Wednesday came on the unlikeliest of nights.

At the end of Idol's two-hour-plus Idol Gives Back telethon, which featured show-stopping performances by Elton John and Annie Lennox.

On last week’s Elvis themed show, Kara told Garcia that he needed more “swagger”, and Simon Cowell told him that “all the coolness has been sucked out of you.”

“They were extra confusing this year,” the 24 year old told CNN. “They tell you one thing, like ‘I don’t know about the swag…’ and I was like ‘What? I was doing my thing!’”Katie Stevens agreed wholeheartedly. “

American Idol 9 First Elimination for the Finals

March 19, 2010 |09:30 | Finalists | Updates  By : Team X

… and America said their goodbye to Lacey Brown last night. In case you missed it, the bottom 3 Idols last night was Tim, Paige and Lacey. Eventually, Ryan Seacreast said that Tim Urban is safe. He was bold enough to take some risk while remaining attuned to  his sublety and nuance. Lacey Brown on the other hand was ousted and the American viewers let her go. Apparently her style and her eccentric blend of voice did not appeal much in the American audience.

Other highlight of last nights American Idol show is David Cooks performance of Jumpin Jack Flash.. It's jumpy, catchy and dancable but I believe the folks in the band specially in the guitar was not challenge by the tepid rhythm section. I guess we'll all be waiting for next week's performance and the unavoidable and inevitable elimination by the American people.

Brown, who turned in a lackluster rendition of the Rolling Stones' "Ruby Tuesday" on Tuesday's performance show, failed to impress the judges with a last-minute performance of Brandi Carlile's "The Story."

"I had a lot of people tell me maybe go the country route or something like that," the teary-eyed pixie-haired singer told host Ryan Seacrest after her dismissal. "I'm willing to keep working. I'm not going to stop singing. I'm going to keep singing for my fans and for myself because I love to do this, so I'm excited for the future.
